New Don McGlashan album
Don McGlashan has a new album coming out (or already out? or something?). I presume it’s getting some airplay in NZ, anyone can tell me if I should be excited?
In any case I’m not paying any attention until The Diss is Dissertated. But it might make a nice present-to-self in a couple of weeks…
[How do I know? Soundamus tells me so.]

March? March?!
I wonder what's up with that, eMusic have Warm Hand (same label, apparently) but not the new one. I will permit myself to hope that Soundamus picked up on some kind of European release.
Not that I'm thinkin' too much about it. Diss diss diss, one week to go...
(Don McGlashan and the Regent Booksale? It's a good thing one of us was there...)
Not sure when it came out, but the Ditz alerted me to it back in March (Soundamus would appear to be suffering some lag ;-). Sorry, should have noticed you weren't on the CC and passed on the good news. Anyway, yes, well worth getting! A bit different in character to Warm Hand, slightly fewer of the surreal lengthy McGlashanesque yarns, but no worse for that. Includes not one but two songs addressed to C2006P1 McNaught, the big comet that came by in 2006.
Not sure how much airplay it's been getting, but it contains a gloriously sarcastic squib called 'Radio Programmer' which implies strongly that radio programmers are unimaginative overpaid lazy bastards who don't play Don's songs enough. (Somehow I doubt that the song will improve the situation.)
Also, he toured to support it, and played Sammy's in Dunedin. Brilliant gig, including much new stuff and old stuff and a version of 'Radio Programmer' with a five-minute theremin intro (but in a good way). It was the night of the Regent booksale, so things could hardly have been better.
Good luck on the home stretch of the dissertation. I think I may be entering the final lap, but it's hard to tell.
