Thesis-writing in LaTeX
I’ve spent a bit of time organising my LaTeX setup for maximal dissertatory efficiency. Mainly I want a system that lets me put definitions somewhere sensible (a thesis.sty package), but also makes it easy to typeset chapters individually to hand around, without duplicating definitions or having to hand-edit files for book or single-chapter output.
I’ve got a basic system that works pretty well, and now it has its own page on my site. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks Jason, that does look decent.
ILLC folks should note that there's an ILLC dissertation style, which comes with quite a different template.
(I disagree with some of the design decisions they've made, but the kind of structural organisation I've suggested here should be compatible with pretty much whatever classfile you want to use. It's mainly about being able to reuse the same source for in-thesis chapters and for stand-alone chapter articles, to send around to interested folks.)
fyi, harish bhanderi has a decent thesis template over here: http://www-h.eng.cam.ac.uk/help/tpl/textprocessing/ThesisStyle/
