Golden Bay: down on the farm
Another photo album.
In Golden Bay I stayed with my folks, on their farm. Despite this, there are no photos of sheep. We did lots of other traditional Golden Bay things though. For instance…
- Beaches
- Tata (and a shag)
- Wharariki (walking on trees, and a seal)
- Bainham
- on the Abel Tasman (more shags)
- Haymaking (you can see how two blokes marry in the Bay, if you’re interested)
- Swimming in
- the (upper) Takaka
- the Abel Tasman
- the swimming hole up the road
Comments
"So you've got a wee new brother, Jimmy? The stork came and visited, did it?"
"The what?"
"The stork -- in the chimney, bringing the new baby, you know..."
"I don't know about no stork in the chimney. Me dad said it was a shag at the beach."
(With apologies to Brian, who can tell that joke properly.)
My knowledge of English comes mainly from films, and I learned the word `shag' from Austin Powers. I made some Freudian interpretation error, it appears. So, what he actually was inquiring about was whether the pretty girls would like to share waterfowl with him?
